Palaeogeography of the Upper Carboniferous coal-bearing deposits in NE part of the Intra-Sudetic Depression
Abstract
Development of palaeogeography of the coal-bearing productive deposits of the Upper Carboniferous (the Wałbrzych and the Zacler Formations) is presented. Main parameters characterizing the coal-bearing series (thickness, coal-bearing potential, content of coarse-grained material) have been analysed. Resulting from this analysis the possible palaeogeographic situation from the lowest Namurian to the Lower Westphalian C is presented on six figures. Sedimentation of the productive series displayed a fluvial character.
