Abstract

ON THE CONDITIONS OF OCCURRENCE OF MARBLES IN NORTHWESTERN KROWIANKI (SUDETEN)

The author describes, on the background of both their stratigraphy and their tectonics, the conditions of occurrence of marbles deposited southeast of Kłodzko in Sudeten. Furthermore, he discusses in detail the conditions of this marble deposit from the petrographical point of view and also characterizes these marbles as to their industrial value, giving figures on determined resources.

As to its geology, the discussed area has not yet been investigated more accurately. The rocks consist principally of metamorphic sediments belonging to the so-called Stronie series; according to the most recent opinions of Polish geologists, this series is being assigned, as to its age, to the younger Precambrian.
