Abstract


GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATIONS IN THE REGION OF KRYNKI AND THEIR RESULTS (NORTH-EASTERN POLAND)

The Krynki village is situated in Northeastern Poland, 45 km. east of Białystok. In 1952-1959, oonsiderable geophysical investigations were carried out there.

The working out of the geophysical materials have led the author to the following conclusions:

1 - According to the interpretation of the geoelectric data, the surface of the crystalline substratum appears to be relatively flat, disclosing a slight east-west slope. The depth of this surface is 350-400 m (Fig. 11).

2 - The magnetic anomaly of Krynki is caused by a content of magnetite in the biotite schists of the crystalline substratum.

3 - The gravimetric and magnetic anomalies are probably connected with changes of density and magnetic susceptibility of the crystalline rocks and not with any deformation of crystalline substratum.

4 - The discontinuity surfaces separating zones of different physical characteristics show a marked inclination. The disturbing body connected with the central local magnetic anomaly is asymmetrical, with a west-east sIant.

5 - The magnetic anomaly of Krynki, at its superficial part may be roughly divided into two anomalies in the west which may be ascribed to the influence of active substratum and one or perhaps two smaller in the east (Fig. 9).
