Abstract

PETROCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF ROCKS OF CRYSTALLINE SUBSTRATUM TOUCHED BY BORING AT WEJSUNY NEAR PISZ

In 1938-1939 there was drilled a bore-hole near Wejsuny, in the area of the Pisz magnetic anomaly (North-Eastern Poland). The core of this drilling, lost during the war, was recovered in 1953, but - in its major part - without explanatory records.

The authors present the petrographical characteristic of the rocks touched by boring at Wejsuny, consisting of syenites, gabbros, hybrides and amphibolites. In the vertical section, these different rock types show a manifold intertonguing. On the basis of core samples received from the German Democratic Republic, and of the cognizance of the remnants of the Wejsuny core, the columnar section of this bore hole has since been reconstructed. The authors undertook the investigation of the chemical composition of the rocks from the Wejsuny bore-hole, and their petro-chemical interpretation of the crystalline rocks they carried out, altogether, 9 full chemical analyses (Table 1). On the basis of these analyses they computed, by various methods, projections according to Zavaritsky, Raaz, Elston, and several other methods.
