Abstract

HOLOCENE AEOLIAN DEPOSITS IN THE BASIN OF THE LOWER WYŻNICA RIVER

The author carried out geological investigations in the southwestern part; of the Lublin Plateau; in the area of the Wyżnica basin. In this area he observed dunes resting on Cretaceous sediments, on boulder clay, on loess, on sands of the supraflood terrace and, even, on deluvial sands. The dune forms vary, their lengths are from several to several hundred meters, their heights reach up to 9 meters. The majority of the dunes are covered by forest growth.
