OCCURRENCE OF RARE ELEMENTS IN THE COPER-BEARING MARL SERIES OF THE LOWER ZECHSTEIN IN THE GRODZIEC SYNCLINE

Summary

The paper deals with the results of the researches of copper-bearing marls of Lower Zechstein age in the Grodziec syncline. The researches were conducted as to the contents of such elements as rhenium, selenium, molybdenum, uranium and copper. The series of copper-bearing marls of Lower Zechstein age is characterized by the highest content of the elements investigated, as compared with other beds of the Lower Zechstein. For this series mean contents of the investigated elements have been calculated. Distribution of the elements in vertical profl1e of the beds considered and along their extension is irregular. Some correlations have been noted only between rhenium and copper (r = +0,69), and selenium and uranium I(r = +0,45). It may be assumed on the basis of the works conducted that the association of the elements occurring in copper-bearing marls series originated due to the favourable physical, chemical and facial conditions that existed in t he Zechstein marine basin at the time of deposition of the beds under consideration.
