Abstract

STANDARD GEOLOGIC-GEOPHYSICAL PROFILE OF THE ORDOVICIAN IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE ŁEBA ELEVATION

Summary

A division into horizons and a correlation of the Ordovician formations have been made within the Łeba elevation with the aid of the results obtalined during geophysical surveys. The Ordovician has been divided here into 3complexes and 15 geophysical horizons. A geophysic-geological characteristic of the differentiated complexes and horizons has been presented and the method of (geophysical division and the way of correlating measurement curves have been discussed.
The work resulted in a standard synthetical geologic-geophysical profile of the Ordovician in the area, considered (Fig. 1), based on the results of borehole Żarnowiec IG 1. The elaboration of such a profile is of considerable practical importance, since it makes possible to determine the lithologic-stratigraphical profile on geophysical data only (Fig. 2). The application of such a standard in geological research works can be a basis for a uniform and appropriate correlation of the Ordovican formations in the Łeba elevation area.
